Sweden’s TTS Ships Equipment AB, Gothenburg, part of Norway’s TTS Marine ASA, Bergen, has won an order to install a new passenger door onboard the 75,338 grt cruise vessel Norwegian Spirit, built during 1998 at Germany’s Meyer Werft GmbH (Yard No. 646), for the Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) in Miami.
The shell door is of a watertight design and delivered with an electronic control system and its own hydraulic power pack. Last year TTS delivered a similar door to another of the NCL fleet, the 91,740 grt, 2001-built Norwegian Star. For NCL it is the quality and the delivery time which is of outmost importance when ordering such equipment. The door will be designed fabricated and delivered to the vessel within 6 weeks.
The door will be built in Europe and be air-freighted over to the United States for installation at San Francisco Dry Dock commencing mid-October. The new TTS Marine Inc office in Miami, established to serve the large cruise market in Miami, will supervise the installation in US.
TTS continues to develop the conversion business within the Cargo Access field for all types of ships and is now one of the major players in that field.
