Sweden’s TTS – Dry cargo Division, part of Norway’s TTS Marine ASA, has won a Letter of Intent (LOI) to supply cargo access equipment to three (3) 13,800 dwt Ro/Ro-containerships building for Sweden’s B&N Nordsjofrakt AB, Gothenburg (StoraEnso) at Finland
Sweden’s TTS – Dry cargo Division, part of Norway’s TTS Marine ASA, has won a Letter of Intent (LOI) to supply cargo access equipment to three (3) 13,800 dwt Ro/Ro-containerships building for Sweden’s B&N Nordsjofrakt AB, Gothenburg (StoraEnso) at Finland’s Aker Finnyards, Rauma.
The 188 m long vessels, which are all due for delivery in 2006, are intended to operate on the Gulf of Bothnia, between Kemi and Oulu in Finland, and Gothenburg in Sweden. B & N and Stora Enso intend to enter into a 15 years charter agreement for the vessels to be carrying special SECU containers (StoraEnso Container Unit).
TTS Ships Equipment will design, manufacture and install the following equipment:
· Stern ramp/door
· Two ramp covers in the main deck (port and starboard)
· Two internal ramps (port and starboard)
· Two pilot/bunker doors (port and starboard)
· Hydraulic system
· Electrical system
All equipment will adhere to the rules and regulations of Norway’s Det Norske Veritas (DNV).
The stern ramp/door is wire-operated by a hydraulically-operated winch and is hinged to the ship’s stern at main deck (Deck 2) level. The total length is 16 m with a driveway width of 23.6 m and a clear opening height of 5.2 m. Total load maximum for the ramp as a whole is 2 x 72 t/four axles.
There are two hydraulically-operated ramp covers on the main deck, each with a length of 54.3 m (including flap), a clear width of 8.6 m and a clear height of 5.2 m. Two hoistable ramps are located between the main deck (Deck 2) and Deck 1.
Norway's TTS Marine ASA comprises three divisions - Material Handling (Drobak), Marine Cranes (Bergen) and Dry Cargo Handling (Sweden). Part of the Dry Cargo Division, TTS Ships Equipment AB, located in Gothenburg, is designated the RoRo equipment 'Centre of Excellence'.
